Evacuation & Assembly

You may only have only minutes to escape a major wildfire, flood, hazardous material spill, or other disaster. That's why it's important to assemble a go bag, sign up for alerts, and make a family emergency plan. During an evolving emergency, stay informed via alerts and broadcast and social media alerts.
Oregon follows a three-level evacuation notification system, each structured around the readiness need and threat level. Know the current levels and what they mean to help make the best decision to stay safe. Don’t wait to evacuate if you feel unsafe. Go early to avoid traffic congestion. Things to Do If You Must Evacuate

• Call or text your out-of-area contact to let them know when you are safe
• Leave a note inside your home that says when you left and where you are going
• Take your "go bag"
• Use routes identified in the evacuation information from City, County, or State sources
• Wear appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes

You'll also learn what actions to take to avoid injury, when and how to use an extinguisher, and how to exit structures safely.
